![]() 404: Referral Symposium(Period 1 Only) With significant Federal Budget tightening in the near future, housing referral staffs need to learn to become centers of efficiency in better servicing our military customers. At the same time they must remained focused on Core Referral Services, such as Home finding, Inspection, Mediation and Resolution and Customer Cost Savings Programs. This symposium will feature an opening presentation by Mark Towers on Creating Efficiency in the Workplace, followed by Service presentations on their best practices. There will also be time allowed for Q & A. 405: Unaccompanied Housing Symposium: DoD Unaccompanied Housing Design 2012–2016 (Period 2 Only) Facilitated by Rick Worrell This hosted session will begin with an initial briefing by representatives from each of the Armed Services related to their specific facilities designs that they will be using for new construction for the next several years. The briefing will include decisions made on design sustainability, quality of life enhancements, environmentally sensitive construction materials, energy consumption and cost effectiveness to operate. 401: Energy Conservation and Resident Paid Utilities Symposium (Period 1 Only) Everyone today is very conscious of conserving energy, and at the same time, the Services are implementing programs to transfer the responsibility for payment of utilities to privatized housing residents. When residents are responsible for payment of their utilities it creates conservation that generates costs savings that are available to reinvest into the housing deal and also generates reductions in green house gases and lessened reliance on nonrenewable fuels. This symposium, with an OSD moderator and six panel members representing the Services and Private Partners, will discuss the various aspects of current energy conservation initiatives and each Service’s approach to changing the way residents pay for their utility consumption in privatized housing. 403: Housing Early Application Tool (HEAT) Training (Period 2 Only) Speaker: Mike Anderson The Housing Early Application Tool (HEAT) Phase 1 is the first step to a fully automated Housing application process. HEAT allows service members (with dependents), or their spouses, to submit a Housing request to one or more Installation Housing Service Centers (HSC) – before or after they receive their PCS orders. This allows earlier contact between customers and the HSCs and/or PPV partners. Upon completion of this session, you will:
