CHAPTER 14 NEWS

JUNE 2008: The Aloha Chapter 14 began its first fundraising event for a local charity, Hawaii Foodbank. Established in 1983, the Hawaii Foodbank now distributes nearly 9 million pounds of food per year while serving 270 charitable agencies representing 289 feeding programs across Oahu. Our Chapter set up drop-off locations for the Foodbank’s "Five Most Wanted" items: canned meats or tuna, canned meals, canned soups, canned vegetables and fruits and canned beans. We marketed our efforts to seek donations through July and August 2008 in hopes of helping both military and civilian families in Hawaii.

27 JUNE 08: Chapter members had their first opportunity to invite co-workers and friends to our next meeting. Overlooking a beautiful Navy/Marine golf course, we enjoyed drinks and "pupus" (appetizers) from Sam Snead’s Restaurant in Honolulu, Hawaii. We generated interest in establishing new committees to assist with fundraising, social events and membership. The Chapter also gave away some of the best door prizes yet–CASH!

2 MAY 08: Since reestablishing the local Chapter, our first Chapter meeting was held on May 2, 2008. The informal, outdoor event gave former members the chance to reconnect. Door prizes included free tickets to Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park and a one night stay at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.
